In this role, you will be responsible for completing daily tasks that help service owners keep their services running and functional, and for working directly with customers on their accounts and any problems they experience. Most of the work is done on Windows servers in a virtual environment. The ideal candidate has proficient knowledge of IT infrastructure concepts and principles, experience with Windows Server administration (2012 or newer), and outstanding customer service skills, and can communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and remote administration of server operating systems (Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server)
  • Monitoring and administration of virtual infrastructure for both server and workstation virtualization (Microsoft, VMware)
  • Health checks and monitoring of physical and virtual servers
  • Configuration of server and workstation backups, regular monitoring of their status, and reporting
  • Incident resolution and troubleshooting
  • Security monitoring, alerting and vulnerability management for servers and related infrastructure
  • Server OS and server application updates and data migrations
  • Microsoft 365 management and configuration
  • Managing and maintaining the daily ticket queue by responding to customer inquiries and requests and assigning tickets to the appropriate department
  • Providing escalation support to IT/Application Support Technicians as needed: phone, email and remote-assist user requests, technical advice, and problem analysis, detection and resolution
  • Maintaining documentation of asset information and of general IT processes and procedures
  • Providing on-call and after-hours support by remote administration when necessary for system maintenance and employee assistance

Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or a similar field
  • Fluent English
  • Understanding of Microsoft server operating systems and VMware technologies
  • Knowledge of the MS Windows Server family, MS TCP/IP, DNS, AD, remote administration and certificates
  • Analytical thinking and communication skills
  • Desire to learn and develop yourself
  • Strong team player
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with the following technologies (where applicable): Windows Server 2012 and up; VMware vSphere, using technologies such as datastore clustering and DRS in a multi-host, multi-cluster environment; Microsoft Active Directory and DNS at domain/forest level 2012 and up; Microsoft Certificate Authority, PKI and smartcard deployment; Veeam Backup & Replication; Microsoft PowerShell and scripting
  • US citizen living in the US

Nice to have

  • Unix/Linux experience
  • Scripting and automation (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.)
  • Cloud infrastructure experience
  • Practical experience with security monitoring platforms (Splunk, Rapid7, CrowdStrike, etc.)

Physical requirements

  • Keyboarding, listening and talking, some standing and walking, and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • Travel less than 25%
